What's in a Paid Search Audit
Also called a PPC audit or Google Ads account audit. Whichever term you use, the process is the same: a methodical, line-by-line review of your campaigns, keywords, ads, tracking and bidding.
Account Structure Review
Is your account organised for performance? I review campaign structure, ad group setup, and settings to find inefficiencies.
Keyword & Search Term Audit
Are you targeting the right terms? I analyse your keywords, search terms, match types, and identify missing negatives.
Ad Copy Review
How strong are your ads? I review every RSA for headline quality, description effectiveness, ad strength, and extension usage.
Conversion Tracking Check
Is your data accurate? I verify your conversion setup, attribution settings, and whether you're tracking what actually matters.
Budget & Bidding Review
Are you spending where it counts? I analyse budget allocation, bid strategies, and identify wasted spend.
Competitor Benchmark
How do you stack up? I compare your account metrics and ad presence against key competitors in your market.
Is This Audit For You?
Audits aren't universally useful. Here's when they pay back fast, and when they don't.
This audit is for you ifโฆ
- โYou're spending $3k+/month on Google Ads
- โThe account has been running 6+ months โ enough data to actually audit
- โPerformance is drifting and you can't pinpoint why
- โYou want a second opinion before changing agencies or scaling spend
- โYou run ecommerce, lead gen, or B2B โ not a single-campaign local services account
Probably not a fit ifโฆ
- โYou're spending under $2k/month โ the audit won't pay back fast enough
- โYou haven't launched yet โ there's no data to review
- โYou want a quick gut-check, not a methodical review
- โYou already know what's wrong and just need it executed โ that's a management engagement, not an audit
Sounds like you? Let's get started.

What audits have surfaced in real accounts
Named clients. Real numbers. Each finding links to the full case study.
The account looked healthy on paper. The audit found the conversion tracking had quietly broken, so Smart Bidding was optimising against a signal that no longer reflected real inquiries. Fixing tracking was the whole story.
Read the full case studyThe account was fragmented across dozens of ad groups organised by product category. The audit rebuilt it around search intent instead, so Smart Bidding could learn across coherent user journeys.
Read the full case studyCost per lead had drifted well above what the account could support. The audit identified where the bid strategy, budget and campaign structure were working against each other. Three months later, CPL was down 90%.

Who's Behind the Audit

I'm Chris Beechey, a PPC specialist based in Australia. I've spent 8+ years running paid search for ecommerce, lead gen, and B2B accounts spending between $5k and $100k+ a month.
You work with me directly. No account managers, no handoffs, no junior media buyers running your account while I sign the invoices.
Audits are the highest-leverage hour I can spend with an advertiser I don't already manage. You get the same depth I'd give a retainer client, without committing to one.

Frequently Asked Questions
What access do you need?
Read-only access to your Google Ads account. I'll walk you through how to share it (takes 2 minutes). I can't make any changes to your account.
How long does the audit take?
The Rapid Audit is delivered in 3 business days, the Deep Audit in 5. Rush delivery available if you need it faster.
How much does a Google Ads audit cost?
Two tiers, both in AUD. The Rapid Audit is $500 and covers a high-level scan of the account, top waste queries, tracking sanity check, and a short-form PDF report, delivered in 3 days. The Deep Audit is $1,500 and covers every campaign, every RSA, full tracking audit, competitor benchmark, video walkthrough, 90-day action plan, follow-up call, and 14-day email support, delivered in 5 days.
What does a Google Ads audit include?
Every audit reviews account structure, keywords and search terms, ad copy and asset performance, conversion tracking, budget allocation and bid strategy, Quality Score, and (for accounts that run it) Performance Max asset groups and brand exclusions. The Deep Audit adds competitor benchmarking, a video walkthrough, and a follow-up call. See the What's Included section above for the full breakdown.
Do you audit Performance Max campaigns?
Yes. PMax reviews look at asset group structure, brand exclusions, channel share (Shopping vs Display vs YouTube), search category insights, and whether the campaign is cannibalising your Search brand traffic. Most PMax audits find at least one asset group underperforming, and around half find brand-cannibalisation that inflates the reported CPL.
What if my account is a mess?
That's exactly when an audit is most valuable. I'll prioritise the biggest wins so you know where to start, not overwhelm you with 50 things to fix.
Is a paid search audit the same as a Google Ads audit?
Yes. Paid search audit, PPC audit, and Google Ads account audit all describe the same thing: a review of your paid search account. Google Ads is the biggest paid search platform, so most audits focus there. If you're also running Microsoft Ads (Bing), let me know and I'll include it in the same review.
Do you still audit AdWords accounts?
Google renamed AdWords to Google Ads back in 2018, so it's the same platform, just a different name. Yes, I audit it. If you set up your account in the AdWords days and haven't touched it since, that's exactly the kind of account that tends to have the most wasted spend.
How often should you audit a Google Ads account?
A full audit at least once a year for accounts spending $3k+/month, plus after any major change like a new campaign type, a new landing page, or a big spend increase. Between audits, watching search terms and Quality Score weekly is usually enough. Accounts that never get audited are the ones where wasted spend quietly compounds.
What's the difference between a Google Ads audit and Google Ads management?
An audit is a one-off, read-only review that produces a report and a fix list. Management is ongoing execution: I log in, make the changes, and keep improving the account week by week. Some clients get an audit first to decide whether they want to hire me for management. Others audit before changing agencies. Others use the report to brief their internal PPC person.
Can I implement the recommendations myself?
Absolutely. The report includes specific, actionable recommendations with clear priorities. If you'd prefer someone to handle it, we can talk about management.
What if I'm already working with another agency?
No problem. A second pair of eyes is always valuable. The audit is yours. Share it with whoever manages your account.
Is this a sales pitch for management?
No. The audit is a standalone deliverable. If you want to talk about management afterwards, great. If not, you've still got a useful report.
